No words can describe

We’re at Tio Gary and Tia Sammie’s house!

We were getting ready to help Jubilee brush her teeth in a guest bathroom, but there was no step stool for her to reach the sink. So we said let’s go to your cousins bathroom because they have a step stool by their sink. But when we got there… no step stool. Daphne said, “Jubilee, go ask your cousins where the step stool is.”

But in a resigned voice, she replied, “It’s OK. *sigh* I guess I have to spit in the toilet.”

Goldfish and Milk Don’t Mix in the Morning

Madeleine has been spitting up a lot in the last couple of hours. But a few minutes ago she THREW UP. Lots of curdled chunks.

I don’t know if this is related to the cough and running nose they’ve both had for a week. Also, Maddie has a funny rash on her thigh. It’s looks like pokey goose bumps. It’s lessened than what it was a few days ago, so I’m not concerned about it, but I wish I knew what’s up with all of these different ailments.

All Done?

A little over a week ago, Angelina really began resisting nursing (more than before) so I decided to stop nursing her. That was very sad. Today I got to sleep in, so Madeleine also skipped nursing. I know she doesn’t really drink, so I planned to see if she wanted to nurse later in the morning. Haven’t gotten around to it because…

“Yannow Bwainy Gummy Naw”

“Yannow Bwainy Gummy Naw” is one of Jubilee’s made-up phrases that she loves to chant over and over again. So much so that I began chanting it with her. Tonight, after not saying it for several weeks, she started saying it again. I decided to ask her what it meant, of course not expecting an actual translation.

“We can’t walk anymore,” she answered, totally throwing me off guard.

“Oh!” David said with a light bulb on top of his head. “Ya no puede caminar! That’s from La Cucaracha.

Sure enough, I recalled David singing the cockroach song to Jubilee earlier this evening. This prompted her to start chanting “Yannow Bwainy Gummy Naw” again. After all this time, we now know she’s chanting a line from the song!

Swish Swish

Oh, one of my nightmares has come true!

Recently, I’ve been reading about the “horrors” of having twin toddlers. They are able to collaborate to get into more trouble than just a singleton.

For example, they can figure out how to climb up a dresser. Because there are two of them, each of them can each grab a knob, pull the drawer open, then eventually climb to the top. After, of course, pulling out all of the clothes in the dresser.

Also, they quickly figure out that if they’re in trouble, they will split up and run different directions, knowing that you can only chase one of them!

As humorous as this is, it’s also frightening to think about what they might do!

Today, they did one of the more gross acts, though I know singletons have been known to do this. I was in the living room. I incorrectly thought Angel and Marvel were in another room with David. Suddenly I hear water. At first I thought it was Jubilee going to the bathroom. But I knew something was wrong because it didn’t sound quite the same. So I ran to the bathroom and my inclination was proved right. Angel and Marvel had their hands in the toilet swishing the water!

YUCK!!!!

Gimme a Throne, Any Throne

Angelina loves to climb into chairs. If a portable booster chair is on the ground, she sits in it. Bumbos, of course! (But sometimes she can’t get out.) If it has the slightest resemblance to a chair, Angelina is there.

Bee-ARE

David, Jubilee, and I were playing “Word World,” where we “build a word.” (We were just spelling, but I tried to make it simialr to how they do it on the tv show.)

Jubilee was doing great! With guidance, she was able to spell out several words. At one point, we spelled B-E-E. Then, Jubilee put an “R” at the end.

“What does that spell?” we asked.

“Bee-ARE,” she replied, saying the letter “R” instead of sounding it out.

“Yes, that’s Uncle Scot’s favorite drink,” I joked.

Singin’ In The Rain

A year ago, we gave Jubilee a very special treat. It was raining, so we sat together and drank hot chocolate while watching Gene Kelly sing and dance to the title song from Singin’ in the Rain. It was special to me because that’s one of my favorite movies and it brought me great joy to see her entranced by Gene’s performance. Plus, she rarely gets to watch non-children television.

Since it’s been raining, I mentioned to Jubilee how we did that a long time ago. She actually remembered! Well, at least she remembered, “And we get to drink hot chocolate?!”

Today I decided to revisit the special treat. We sat down with our hot chocolate and watched more than just “Singin’ in the Rain.” We watched several of the songs from this classic muscial. We watched “Fit as a Fiddle,” “Make ‘Em Laugh,” “Singin’ in the Rain,” and “Good Morning.”

She loved “Make ‘Em Laugh” because it’s so silly. “Wow,” she said when Donald O’Connor did a flip using the wall.

She adored “Good Morning” because she could imitate the choreography. “Dance with me,” she asked as she attempted to tap, ballet, and everything else.

But the most heartwarming moment was during the actual “Singin’ in the Rain.” Twice, she turned to me and just smiled. It melted my heart. (I was so tempted to watch the entire movie with her!)

Thank you, Gene Kelly!

15 Month Update

Angelina weighs 17lb 3oz, is 29.25in long, and has a head circumference of 47.5cm.
Madeleine weighs 18.lb 4.5oz, is 30in long, and has a head circumference of 46cm.

The doctor is concerned about Angel’s weight gain, or lack thereof. Although she’s gained weight, it’s not enough. So she has been given a medicine to help increase her appetite. (It’s actually an anti-histimine; didn’t know they make you hungry!)

Please pray for her growth. She a weight check next month.

Peace on Jubilee

We got out our Christmas decorations this weekend and one of them is a door-hanging Angel holding the word PEACE. I showed it to Jubilee, told her the word, and asked if she knew what it meant. She did not know the word, so after struggling for a moment to find an easy definition, I explained that it meant ‘calm’. Then I asked her where she would like to hang it. She thought for no more than a few seconds, and stated “I want to hang it on my door. Then when I get sent to my room I will look at it and it will help me be calm.”
