Name That Uncle

Daphne: Who’s Uncle David?
Jubilee: Trozak!

Let Me Finish Your Sentence

We were eating at Earth Wind and Flour, a fun atmosphere with saw dust on the floor and a wandering magician. Early on, Jubilee was goofing around, so I told her to sit down. However, I couldn’t come up with the right words.

Daphne: Jubilee, please sit in your…your…uh, your–
Jubilee: -high chair.

Counting in Cantonese

Auntie Andrea was listening to and helping Jubilee count from one to ten in Cantonese. Jubilee was doing pretty well. But at the end, after succesfully counting to nine, Jubilee shouts “TEN!” …in English.

Late-night serenade

Tonight Jubilee woke up crying around 9:20pm. When I went in, she said “Runny nose.”

“Well of course you have a runny nose. You’ve been crying.” I wiped her nose, then picked her up and held her in my arms while sitting in the glider. I sang “There is a River” and the first verse of “The Solid Rock.”

I paused to see if she was ready to go back to bed. But Jubilee lifted her head up, looked at me, and with an enormous smile, said “More music.” Talk about melting your heart!”

So I sang the remaining three verses of “The Solid Rock” and afterward, she again smiled and asked for more music. Okay, now I know she’s just procrastinating.

I gave her a drink of water, sang one more song, and put her back to sleep.
