Look Mommy, I’m Flying!

We were trying to re-enact part of a story book: My Daddy.

Grover Would Be Proud

It is so much fun playing opposites with Jubilee. Grover from Sesame Street would be proud. Today I started teaching her “high” and “low.” It started with a ball that was placed on the top of a bookcase. Jubilee would say “ball” and point toward it. So I explained to her that the ball was up high and reached for the sky. From then on she would say “ball” with her hands in the air.

To drive this idea further, we sat at the piano. Together we played “high” notes and “low” notes. I hope this doesn’t end up confusing her. Silly semantics.

For those of you who don’t know why I referenced Grover in a post about opposites, check out this classic Sesame Street skit.

*Cough*

The other day, Jubilee and I were eating breakfast when I could not resist the urge to cough. Now, whenever someone coughs, she makes a fist, puts it in front of mouth, and coughs as well. So polite, but I’ve yet to see her do this when she has a real cough.

Good Luck Contest

According to superstition, if this happens to you, it’s good luck. Can you guess what happened to Jubilee today? Email us with your answer.

(Yes, that’s all the the information you get for now. Answers will be posted in a few days.)

Time Out, Ump!

Jubilee keeps signing what looks like a baseball player asking for a time out. Unfortunately, I have no idea what she’s signing! I thought sign language was supposed to make communication easier!

Okay!

Today Jubilee and I had a fun time saying “Okay!” to one another.

“First I havve to take off your seat belt and then you may have a cracker. Okay?”
“Okay!”
“Okay?”
“Okay!”
etc…

Opposites

To piggyback off of David’s post…

If you hold up two item of different sizes, Jubilee will say “BIIIIIIIG!” of the larger item. In a soft, high voice she will declare the other item is “small.”

She also knows loud and soft! She doesn’t say it, but she knows that loud = shouting and soft = whispering.

Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig!

For some time now, Jubilee has been saying the word “big”. It was actually one of her earliest words, and for some reason she has always said it with much expression and drama. She loves to point out things that are big, and this made for quite an embarassing moment tonight at Armadillo Willy’s restaurant when an extremely obese man walked by: Jubilee looked at me with wide eyes, and then pointed at the man and said, “Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig!”

Gator Chomp

Over the weekend, Uncle Scot taught Jubilee the Gator Chomp, as part of cheering for his alma mater, University of Florida. This week, when I asked Jubilee to do the Gator Chomp, she knew exactly what I was talking about. When I asked her who taught her the Gator Chomp, she shouted, “Unkah!” (Uncle!)

Color

Jubilee is getting better with color! On a good day, when you point to a color, she correctly says and signs blue, red, and yellow. She also knows orange, but that’s typically only associated with pumpkins.
