While playing with Jubilee, David tried Tuvan Throat-Singing. Jubilee did not like it. She immediately began frowning and soon started crying until David stopped. That’s one singing style we don’t want to sing anymore!

Praise God, the loud garbage trucks did not wake Jubilee up at 7:20am. She stirred in her sleep, but did not ask for breakfast until 8:15am.

She’s scratching her head now. I asked the doctor if this is intentional. She said Jubilee may have some motor control, but it won’t be fine-tuned for another month or two.

Close Encounter of the Cousin Kind

This weekend I met all of my first cousins. I’d already met Joel, but this weekend I also met Isaiah, Josiah, and Isaac. They all held me. Tio Gary and Tia Samm also held me and played with me for the first time. Grammy and Poppa were also visiting so they played with me too. Grammy played a new game with me: she tied a scarf around my leg and we had fun lifting and bending my leg.

Yesterday, Jubilee experienced two more firsts. In the morning, I had a dentist appointment, so she got to hang out at Dr. Fong’s office. She resisted her nap, so one woman came to play with her, and eventually Aileen, the office manager (and a friend of mine) picked her up and took her to the front. Oops!

In the afternoon, I had lunch with my Apple co-workers at BJ’s, a restaurant adjacent to Apple. After lunch, I made my rounds around the office, passing out jujube’s and seeing lots of people. Jubilee enjoyed the smiles and friendly faces.

Jubilee has a new type of coo: an ear-piercing squeal. She’s so happy when she squeals this way that you can’t help but love it, but it really does hurt when you’re in close proximity.

I love giving Jubilee a bath because she’s so…obedient. Not the ideal baby commercial, as she doesn’t squeal in delight, but she just sits there, with this face that doesn’t seem to show an emotion, yet she’s definitely not upset. It’s like she’s saying, Okay, it’s bath time. I’m perfectly content to sit here while you clean me up.

Her hair is not as spiky as before. I think it’s because it’s longer. And I’m beginning to see a more defined widow’s peak. *Sigh*, another “she looks like Daddy” indicator.

Cinamamas

Yesterday, I met again with my New Mom’s group. We went to Cinemamas! What’s that? It’s when a movie theater plays a movie where moms and babies can see a show. Expected behavior: crying, feeding, strollers everywhere, with the lights on. We watched the romantic comedy, Fever Pitch. Excellent movie! It even had math humor in it. I only wish Dave was there so we could talk about the movie afterwards.

We think she’s going through a growth spurt. Yesterday (Sunday), in the later afternoon she fed every hour and in the evening, every two hours. By her late night feeding, she was back to normal. We’ll see how the rest of today turns out.

I ate sushi! It’s been almost a year since I’ve eaten it because of pregnancy. To be on the safe side, I’m still supposed to avoid all tuna (raw and cooked) and shark. Little did I know that my favorite sushi, yellowtail, is a form of tuna! I ate a lot of it before Scot told me it was tuna. (He didn’t know I was trying to avoid it.) Oops.
