HAPPY ONE-MONTH TO ME!

Today I watched David put Jubilee into our pouch (it’s similar to a sling). As he put her in, he hadn’t quite gotten her in completely, so her feet were sticking out. It was quite funny to watch. It was also heartwarming to see Jubilee nestle next to her Daddy in complete contentment.

Today, Jubilee’s been fussy in the afternoon, which is not usual. She woke up from her early afternoon nap and was crying like crazy. I would console her, but after getting sleepy, she’d wake up crying again. Finally, I was able to feed her and then she slept. She ended up having feedings at 2 hour intervals, which is short for her. This may be the beginning of a growth spurt. I’ve been dreading the growth spurt as she could be hungry as quickly as every 1-1.5 hours.

Last night Jubilee did some sort of combination sneeze-cough-bbbbb thing. I can’t explain it because I don’t know exactly what it was. But it was cute and made a night of fussiness a little bit better.

Jubilee had another good time at the Breastfeeding Support Group. (This is the first time we went out without any assistance.) Louisa is so helpful. Jubilee drank 2.4 ounces. Lousia said that since Jubilee is growing, she said I don’t have to be too concerned about how much she’s drinking at each feeding. Also, it’s possible that I don’t have to keep feeding her if she stops drinking after only a few miinutes. If she’s happy and content and sleeping well, then she’s just an efficient eater. Efficiency- she IS my daughter!

Mom and Dad Close are staying the night on their way to a conference in L.A. The feeding worked out such that they stayed with Jubilee while David and I attended our church prayer meeting. It was a great blessing to pray with others at church.

This morning was sort of a first: Jubilee never went to sleep after her 6:15AM feeding. She was awake from 6:15 all the way til her next feeding around 9:15. This was nice because David was able to spend a good hour with her before going to work, but Daphne didn’t really get her morning nap like she has been.

Well, my first day back to work was pretty good. Perhaps to balance out
the separation anxiety Daphne and I felt towards each other, Jubilee
decided to start feeding really well: 10-20 minutes at a time on each
side!

I Can Name That Parent In One Note

Last night, Jubilee woke up in the middle of the night crying inconsolably. Although it had been 3 hours since her last feeding, she hadn’t been showing any hunger signs. Plus, she usually sleeps at least 4 hours before getting hungry and her last feeding went very well. David held her for a long time but she kept crying. When I held her, she stopped crying and settled down to sleep in her arms. Could it be that she just wanted Mommy to hold her?
